What it finds

A tape lift is the best sample for mold you can see. The tape collects spores and fragments from the surface, which are identified under the microscope and counted, down to the mold genus.

  • Genus-level mold identification
  • Spore density assessment

When to order

Start with a tape lift for any spot you can see and reach without taking anything apart, like a patch on drywall, a window frame or a bathroom ceiling. If the spot is too wet for the tape to stick or too hard to reach, use the Mold Swab instead. Do not press tape on insulation, old ceiling tiles or anything that might contain asbestos; for those, call a pro.
